Activity Outside of the Clubs Programme
Ratios & Guidance

Local events, considers events in the areas covered by Swim England, Scottish Swimming and Swim Wales. Any events outside of these are considered as International. 

The guidance below covers ratio guidance for single day local events. Coaches within the ratios can be Assistant (Level 1) Coaches in the relevant discipline, however the Coaching team should be led by a qualified Coach (Level 2) in the relevant discipline as a minimum.

The Region and a number of our Counties uses the Swim England Accreditation system for Coaches, Team Managers attending event available via: https://www.swimmingresults.org/member_options/

Each event using the system will be individually listed in the run up to the event.

Poolside Accreditation Information

 

 

A team of athletes all of whom are 12 years old or younger

  • 1 Coach to 8 athletes
  • 1 Team Manager to 8 athletes

A team of athletes all of whom are 13 to 17 years old 

  • 1 Coach to 10 athletes
  • 1 Team Manager to 10 athletes

The additional points should also be considered: 

  • The management team should consist of sufficient numbers of each gender, it is recommend the 1:8/1:10 (Athlete:Coach or Team Manager) as appropriate is used 
  • All Coaches leading must be a qualified Coach (Level 2 Coach) in the relevant discipline
  • At least one Team Manager must hold Team Manager 2 
  • Should the team be mixed age groups it is recommend the younger age group ratios are used

Members, groups of members or affiliated clubs wishing to compete, officiate, coach or train in countries outside Great Britain must apply for permission to do so by completing an International Permit and Clearance Form.
